About Future 4

Future 4 works with young people (18-25) and women across South Wales and Gwent who’re at risk of coming into contact with the Criminal Justice Service or those who already have done so. G4S Community are the lead partner delivering the service which focuses on early intervention and gender specific support that aims to steer people away from criminal activities and behaviours.

Young people and women being supported through Future 4 must accept some degree of responsibility for their actions and must be receptive to support that could change their future.

Working with our consortium partners, Safer Wales, Include and Llamau, Future 4 aims to help young people and women with areas of their life such as:

* Health and wellbeing (confidence building / skills development)
* Healthy relationships
* Substance alcohol misuse and concern
* Lifestyle / habit planning
* Safeguarding / managing risk or harm
* Support with accommodation / finances and / or employment

Our work within these areas, and wider, focuses on our core objective of supporting young people and women away from involvement with the Criminal Justice Service and towards a more positive, healthier way of living. Our colleagues specialise in their field of work and understand the challenges young people and women face today.

Women's Whole System Approach

The Women’s Whole System Approach, which forms part of Future 4, focuses specifically on the needs of women and their children. We tailor support to women with adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), with a view to counteracting the impact of their past trauma and prevent the likelihood of their children experiencing connected trauma. This support ranges from assisting women with personal reflection to helping them build coping mechanisms to help themselves manage in a crisis.

OUT OF COURT DISPOSAL ADVOCATES

Out of Court Advocates are specialists in the field of diversionary support for people who’ve come into contact with the criminal justice system.

Underpinned by a broad understanding of the complexities commonly associated with people caught up in low level offending and repeated cycles of crime, Out of Court Advocates can help Police Officers support people to turn their lives around via a rehabilitative approach.

Utilising a wide network of resources and organisations, Out of Court Advocates work with Police to ensure people coming into contact with the Police are able to access the most appropriate form of support for them.

Out of Court Disposals offer people the opportunity to make amends for their mistakes without suffering the consequences of a criminal conviction which can dramatically alter their future life prospects.

Working with us ensures the views of the offending person, victim and Police Officer are taken into consideration. Out of Court Advocates are able to assist officers in making an informed decision when choosing the most suited disposal pathway.

The Two Tier Out of Court Disposals Model

  • Conditional Cautions
  • Simple Cautions (DA only)

Benefits of Out of Court Disposals
